In the nearest Sunday of the 10th of January, the habitants of the city of Aveiro make the festivities in honor of São Gonçalinho. One of the peculiarities of these festivities is how they fulfill the promises. Consists in shoot cavacas (dry cakes made from egg whites, flour and coated with sugar) from the corridor that surrounds the dome of the chapel, towards the crowd below, and they use the various tools (like umbrellas, shrimp fishing tools, etc…) to catch these sweet, which then eat or take it to their homes.

  1. What a strange, cool photo. And I enjoyed the others on behance. Great work.

  2. Apanhar com uma cavaca na cabeça, não deve ser algo que dê alegria e satisfação. As cavacas são duras como pedras… Acho que era melhor eles mudarem a tradição e em vez de cavacas, passavam a atirar notas de 10€ ou de 20€.
    🙂

Não conhecia esta tradição e festa.
A fotografia realça muito bem a expectativa e a participação popular.
